With many schools and businesses opening back up to the public, the need for increased safety procedures has risen. To ensure success in the reopening of these work environments, many facilities are looking to implement new screening solutions for COVID-19 detection and tracing.
Temperature Scanning
Temperature screening is becoming a standard protocol for employees and visitors before entering any facility. Our temperature measurement solutions make accurate, contact-free temperature screening fast and easy. There are a variety of options ranging from high end thermal imaging cameras designed to capture the temperatures of multiple people at one time, to stand alone temperature measurement devices that measure one person at a time. These devices are effective in measuring temperatures with accuracy within .18 degrees F.
Health Screening Questions for Visitors
Many facilities have adopted daily health screening questions for employees, but it is equally important to verify that all visitors entering your facility are abiding by health and safety guidelines. Electronic visitor management software is ideal for electronic registration and tracking of non-cardholders in the building. We have recently added a new feature to our BadgePass Visitor Manager System that requires visitors to read and agree to terms and conditions before being checked in and granted access to your facility.
This is particularly useful for adding COVID-19 screening questions to regular check-in procedures. This feature is great because the displayed text can be customized to fit any additional policies that visitors will need to agree to in the future. Some examples of COVID-19 screening questions recommended by the CDC (Center for Disease Control) include:
- Have you experienced any of the following symptoms in the past 48 hours?
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Nausea or vomiting
- Have you been exposed to anyone who has been positively diagnosed with COVID-19?
- Have you yourself been diagnosed with COVID-19?
- Have you traveled out of state/country within the last 30 days?
By screening visitors and asking these questions up front, you can better protect your facility from potential health threats and exposure. Plus, because the text is customizable, screening questions can be easily modified as visitor screening changes again in the future. This is just one of many simple steps in you can perform in your COVID-19 detection and tracing process.
Expiring Visitor Badges
To keep track of visitors cleared for entry within your facility and for your daily employees’ peace of mind, expiring “COVID SCREENED” badges are a great addition to your visitor check in process. Once completing a health screening, visitors can receive a badge with their name, date of visit, and time of arrival. After a certain time, these badges will appear with a red block labeled “Void” to show the visitors time has expired and to prevent unauthorized reuse.
Supplies & Accessories
Many organizations are mandating identification cards to be visibly displayed for easier access, increased visual security, and to identify essential workers. The ISG specializes in delivery of quality ID supplies and accessories including customizable lanyards, badge holders, badge reels, and wristbands. While some facilities have opted to print or personalize badges to indicate that someone has been screened, others have discussed colored wristbands as a cost-effective solution to visually identify personnel who have been screened each day.
Contact Tracing via Access Control & EPIC track
To further increase safety measures for facilities, contact tracing has been shown to prevent outbreaks through tracking and identifying high risk interactions. The ISG offers several options for simplified contact tracing of cardholders including handheld (mobile) readers and physical access control readers. Having employees and other personnel scan in and out of the building, or even scan at designated readers throughout the facility can help provide accurate history of who was onsite, or in a particular room, should the need to trace personnel contact arise.
